Crayon Biography, Networth & Discovery

Crayon, whose real name is Charles Chibueze Chukwu, was born on July 8, 1997, in Orile Iganmu, a community in Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria. Hailing from Ebonyi State, he moved to Ojo, Lagos, at the age of seven, where he grew up in a family of four. Crayon’s early life was marked by challenges, which he later reflected on in his music. He attended Treasure Court College for his secondary education, laying the groundwork for his future career in music.

In 2019, Crayon's musical journey took a significant turn when he was signed to Blowtime Entertainment, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, one of Nigeria’s premier record labels. His debut EP, "Cray Cray," released on July 12, 2019, introduced him to the music scene, showcasing his unique blend of Afrobeats and pop sensibilities. The EP received positive reviews and helped him gain a loyal fanbase.

Crayon's music often reflects his personal experiences and struggles. In 2021, he released the single "Jackpot," featuring fellow artist Bella Shmurda, from his second EP, "Twelve A.M." This track further solidified his presence in the industry. Another standout single, "Ijo (Laba Laba)," released in July 2022, peaked at number five on the Turntable Top 100 chart, demonstrating his growing popularity.

However, Crayon’s journey has not been without its challenges. He has openly discussed his battles with depression and drug addiction, particularly during a difficult period in 2015 when he struggled with academic setbacks after failing to gain admission to university. His addiction led to a significant mental health crisis, including a stay in a psychiatric hospital. In interviews, he credited fellow artist Rema for providing crucial support during this tumultuous time. Crayon described this experience as a turning point in both his personal and professional life.

In 2023, Crayon released his debut album, "Trench to Triumph," which chronicles his challenging upbringing in a crowded apartment and his ascent in the music industry. The album is a testament to his resilience and determination, capturing the essence of his journey from hardships to success.

Through his music, Crayon continues to inspire many, using his platform to share his story and connect with fans. With a promising career ahead, he remains a vibrant figure in the Afrobeats genre, showcasing the powerful impact of personal experiences on artistry.
