Adekunle Gold Biography, Networth & Discovery

Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold or AG Baby, is a prominent figure in the Nigerian music scene, particularly within the Afrobeats genre. Born on January 28, 1987, in Lagos State, Nigeria, Adekunle's journey into music began early in his life. Influenced by legendary musicians like King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey, he joined his church's junior choir during his teenage years, which sparked his passion for songwriting. By the age of 15, he wrote his first song, marking the beginning of a promising career.

In 2014, he made a significant move by going solo after disbanding from a music group he formed in school. His breakout hit, "Sade," released in December 2014, was a highlife cover of One Direction's "Story of My Life." This track garnered critical acclaim and set the stage for his professional success. The following year, he signed with YBNL Nation and released his debut studio album, Gold, in July 2016. The album featured hits like "Orente" and "Pick Up", and it debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard World Albums chart, establishing him as a rising star in the music industry.

Adekunle Gold's style blends traditional African sounds with contemporary influences, creating a unique sound that resonates with a wide audience. His subsequent albums, including "About 30" (2018), "Afro Pop, Vol. 1" (2020), and "Catch Me If You Can" (2022), continued to showcase his evolution as an artist. In 2023, he signed with Def Jam Recordings, marking a new chapter in his career with the release of "Tequila Ever After."

Beyond music, Adekunle Gold is an advocate for sickle cell disease awareness, a cause close to his heart due to his own lifelong battle with the condition. In July 2022, he publicly shared his experiences and the inspiration behind his song "5 Star." He founded the Adekunle Gold Foundation to further support and advocate for those affected by the disease.

On a personal note, Adekunle married fellow artist Simi in January 2019 after dating for five years. The couple welcomed their daughter, Deja, in May 2020. Adekunle Gold's journey reflects not only his musical prowess but also his commitment to using his platform for positive change, making him an inspiring figure in contemporary Nigerian culture.
